I’m a communications coach and have a thriving practice working with some of the most extraordinary world leaders, CEOs, philanthropists, innovators and teams. I’m their secret weapon and I love that work. I’m also an adrenaline junkie and a sucker for learning and trying new things.
In 2016 I took something off my bucket list: I went to auctioneering school. 100 Cowboys and me in St Louis learning the basics of auctioneering. I learned the rules and techniques and had a go at standing in front of those cowboys and trying on my new skills. It was hard and fun and a bold thing to do. Now I do fundraising auctioneering for nonprofits that are purpose built to positively impact the lives of women and girls as an impact hobby and a way to stretch myself and grow. And I’m loving it.
The idea of merging my communications coaching experience and auctioneering hit me one evening like a bolt of vanilla swirled ice cream.
“What if every woman could stand on stage and ask for money, over and over, to the same audience and experience what it’s like to go for a “no” — to ask for more until they know they’ve hit the ceiling and left no money on the table?”
It was a good thought, but I didn’t want to start an auctioneering school for girls.
“What if I could use some of the frameworks, skills and techniques I use in auctioneering to embolden the asks women are making? What if that helped them get more? What if we could all Ask Like an Auctioneer?”
And thus the idea was born: a program to help women be courageous in their ask for more using the model of auctioneering. Please join me in my course and see for yourself how useful these tools can be. I can’t wait to hear about what you get more of — and what’s possible when you Ask Like an Auctioneer.
